RIVEREDGE

The Riveredge Project
2008-2011

Daniel Glick of B&D Builders

In January of 2008, John & Leslie Malone approached B&D Builders with her dreams of building a world-class facility to greatly impact the United States dressage and breeding communities. The 600 acre property in Chesapeake City, MD was purchased to provide a venue for equine training businesses to operate in a beautiful estate setting, which would further inspire the equestrian community. With years of success in the breeding of top-class stallions, Leslie Malone anticipated the birth of Riveredge, a campus-like setting with facilities for training, breeding, and sport, much like those found at the great European centers.

As Leslie Malone laid out their plans for her facility, dreams starting taking life on paper as blueprints were drawn up. The property already bore a park-like setting with a 16- and 20-stall horse barn, but both would receive extensive renovations thanks to the artisan vision of Leslie Malone and the craftsmanship of B&D Builders of Paradise, PA. The impressive renovations would transform one of the barns into a 28-stall training center, home of an indoor arena equipped with built-seating to help host many educational events. All of the buildings would be designed with an ecologically friendly focus in mind.

Overview

Indoor Dimensions 90' x 216′ (less space taken up by kickrail and mirror framing)

Ground breaking took place in June of 2008, with construction beginning in August of the same year. B&D’s crews gave impressive attention to detail and each area was handled with precision and skill. The facility boasts of exquisite use of bold and rich timber frames, giving it a rustic appeal and charm. Special detail went into the design of each stall so the warmblood horses would be given utmost comfort.

With its large windows and Glu-Lam Arches, the indoor Riding Arena is an artistic masterpiece sure to impress every equestrian. The completion of the Clubhouse in 2011 excited everyone. From the well-appointed Clubhouse to the spacious Riding Arena and the very functional Stall Barns, each area of the facility has a rustic, old world charm that transports visitors to a distant time and place!
